Cardiocomp
Single LEAD (I, II and III) Electrocardiography

Intelitool's Cardiocomp1 device is easy to use, making electrocardiography easy to learn. Its state-of-the-art technology allows students to acquire data with remarkable flexibility and precision. With Cardiocomp1 students have the flexibility to automatically collect data from as little as two seconds to a continuously monitored ECG signal. Teachers have the ability to place notes within each lab and with Cardiocomp1's zooming ability it is very easy to get a good overview or see the data in great detail.

See how Cardiocomp1:

  • Gives students the ability to place electrodes properly, ensuring correct monitoring of each LEAD, through a graphic of the human body.
  • Easily displays classic ECG landmarks for study.
  • Monitors the frontal plane LEADs; I, II and III.
  • Measures the amplitude and time with an easy point and click to the area of the signal.
  • Automatically calculates the average ventricular rate, PR interval, QRS interval and QT interval.
  • Automatically determines the average maximum and minimum ventricular rate.
  • Prints entire ECG files up to 5 minutes long.
  • Manipulates the data files including notations and analysis settings to be saved and reviewed at any time.
  • Allows you to set up a fully automated exam with easy step by step directions.
  • Runs, saves and prints fully automated exams which enable the user to collect many different ECGs in a short period of time.

Above is a typical data acquisition screen. The trace is live and refreshes from left to right. The human figure makes proper electrode placement a snap.

Above is shown the same data file with the “Automatic Analysis” feature on. The information shown in this case is for the entire file. If both markers 1 and 2 were in place, the analysis would be for just the data between the markers.
cardiocomp screen capture
The data analysis screen has several easy to use tools to help the user understand the data. The blue marker (Marker 1) and the green marker (Marker 2) can be dragged with the mouse or moved with the arrow keys. These makers make it easy to see the absolute values (time and voltage) anywhere in the file as well as the differential values between the markers. The differential values can be seen between the marker fields on the far left over the delta symbol.

The note was made by setting the markers and zooming just right and then clicking on the “New Note" button. The text was typed in, and the note will show up on the note menu. Whenever this note is selected the data will zoom to this view and the markers will move to where they were when the note was made. This makes a data file a powerful way to distribute information or a good way to turn in a demonstration of having learned what the lab is about.

The features of Cardiocomp1 for Windows and soon to be released Macintosh version include:

  • Smart Notes - This feature allows you to add text to a data file. When the note is opened the graph will automatically zoom to the same view of the data as when you made the note and all measurement tools will be in place exactly as you placed them when you made the note.
  • Automatic Analysis - The average ventricular rate, PR interval, QRS interval and QT interval can be automatically calculated.
  • Graphical Representation of R Wave Vector (QRS Axis) - The R wave vector can be automatically calculated, graphically displayed, and compared to axis norms.
  • 60 Hz Noise Filter - 60 Hz noise disappears during data acquisition or analysis when the 60 Hz filter is turned on.
  • A Zoom With a View - The view of the data can be zoomed in or out during data acquisition or analysis for both the time and amplitude axes independently. When zooming the time axis in an analysis window a simple click centers the zoom right where you want it to be.
  • Clear Colorful Graphics - The data displays as well as the analysis tools are all colorful, clear and easy to understand.
  • Clipboard Support - The image of any analysis window can be copied to the clipboard and then pasted into another application. This makes it easy to incorporate data as well as analysis information into lab reports etc.
  • Hardcopy Output - Printouts can be obtained for all data analysis windows as well as for the entire file.
  • Data Export - Cardiocomp1 data can be saved in standard annotated 'TEXT' files so data can be used with other Windows applications. For example, you can now view the raw data in a word processing application or perform additional calculations and graphing of the data using a spreadsheet application.
  • Multiple Window Interface - Multiple, re-sizable data analysis windows can be open at any one time.

Cardiocomp7
Complete multi-LEAD Electrocardiography.

Cardiocomp7 has the ability to monitor, display and store seven LEADs simultaneously. With the ability to see the same cardiac cycle for each LEAD projection, learning about electrocardiology has never been clearer. Cardiocomp7 incorporates all of Cardiocomp1's features such as Smart Notes, and automatic interval analysis, but it has much more. For example, a very special feature found in only Cardiocomp7 is live or off line vectorcardiography. Vectorcardiography graphically shows the ECG signal as it sweeps through the heart. There has never been a better tool for discussing cardiac signal propagation.

With Cardiocomp7 you can:

  • View all LEADS displayed simultaneously, in real time. Just place the electrodes correctly and go.
  • Run a timed or continuously monitored ECG.
  • Run, save and print fully automated exams which enable you to collect many different ECGs in a short period of time.
  • Easily display and study classic ECG landmarks.
  • Monitor the frontal plane LEADs; I, II, III, aVR, aVL, and aVF as well as one of the transverse plane (chest) LEADs.
  • View the direction of the electrocardiographic potential throughout the entire cardiac cycle with a live vectorgram. This vectorgram powerfully displays the nature of signal propagation through the heart.
  • Display the live current ventricular rate as well as receive a visual and audible (beep) indicator each time a ventricular event occurs.
  • Automatically calculate the average ventricular rate, PR interval, QRS interval and QT interval.
  • Print entire ECG files up to 5 minutes long.
  • Manipulate the data file including notations and analysis settings which can be saved and reviewed at any time.

cardiocomp screen capture
This is a typical data acquisition screen. The data traces are live and refresh from the left to the right. Up to seven LEADs can be seen simultaneously on the screen. The human figure displays the definition of any one LEAD when the mouse cursor is moved over any showing LEAD trace. If the “Ventricular Rate” feature is checked an audible tone sounds every time an R wave is detected, an animated heart icon contracts, and the current ventricular rate in beats per minute is displayed.

A vectorgram can be saved and displayed in an analysis window as well. In this case the vectorgram is for the data between the markers. By sweeping a marker out slowly with an arrow key the propagation of the signal can be very easily understood.
cardiocomp screen capture
One of Cardiocomp7’s most powerful features is a live vectorcardiogram display. This display graphs the ECG in the traditional view as well as on a Cartesian plot where the direction of the current potential is displayed as related to the body. A slight rotation of the heart can be observed as the subject breathes and a large rotation of the heart can be observed by comparing vectorgrams for subjects lying down and sitting hunched over. The best thing about the vectorgram is how well it makes sweeping nature of the cardiac signal through the heart easy to visualize and understand.

  • Multi-LEAD viewing - Up to seven LEADS can be simultaneously displayed both live in real time or off line from the data in a saved file.
  • Vectorcardiography - A vectorgram is a graphical representation of the direction of the potential for the entire cardiac cycle on a Cartesian plot. The vectorgram can be displayed live in real time or off line from the data in a saved file. The user can view the vectorgram along with a traditional view of the data at the same time.
